About The Artist
Meagan’s practice is about the land, the environment, earth. Her recent works immerse the landscape though they are not about grasping the ‘facts’ of the world. Meagans interest lies in the ability of painting to inhabit the land imaginatively and move between different experiences of being in Australia.
For the past three years Meagans time has been divided between living and painting on the South Coast of NSW and working at Warlukurlangu Art Centre in Yuendumu (Central Australia). This rich experience has had a major influence on how the artist looks at the land. The conversation between Western and Indigenous landscape painting interests Meagan greatly.
Whether painting plein-air or in the studio it is always her reverential love of nature and a deep spiritual affiliation with the land that underpins and guides the artists work.
